Celebrate Friendship Day 2015!

Because we humans are social creatures, we have always valued the importance of friends in our lives. So let’s celebrate on Sunday, August 2: Friendship Day!

We all have friends that have been around forever, but how long have we celebrated Friendship Day? For 80 years, as a matter of fact. In 1935, the United States Congress declared the first Sunday in August to be Friendship Day.

Friendship Day is marked by several other countries across the world, and they, too celebrate on the first Sunday in August.

How do you celebrate Friendship Day? Many meet their friends and exchange cards, flowers — and friendship bracelets!

And did you know there are other days set aside for celebrating friendships?

  • National Friendship Day is on the first Sunday in August.
  • Women's Friendship Day is on the third Sunday in August.
  • International Friendship Month is February.
  • Old Friends, New Friends Week is the third week of May.

But you don’t have to wait for a special day to be with your friends and let them know they’re special. Make every day Friendship Day!
